Our technicians are reliable, trustworthy, and good communicators, so our customers receive the very best service in the industry.
My dad bought our first personal computer, a Packard Bell x286, in 1994. I spent my middle and high school years putting floppy disks into that computer, expecting to play a game, and then groaning in frustration when it returned an error. I’d spend hours figuring out why in the world it had decided not to let me play Pools of Radiance, and by the time I graduated high school, I was fairly comfortable with DOS prompts and even a little Windows 95.
Once I reached college at UNC-Chapel Hill, I went to work for the on-campus IT Response Center (ITRC). Those were the early days of everyone having a computer on-campus. (I still remember setting up stations to stave off the dreaded “Y2K bug”.) We supported the campus community with any and all computer problems, and to this day, I’ve found that no one is better at fouling up a computer than a college student. I learned a lot of valuable troubleshooting techniques from mentors and colleagues in the ITRC.
Towards the end of college, I had the good sense to ask the smartest and most beautiful girl at UNC to marry me, and she said “Yes”! I followed her back to Hendersonville, her hometown in Western NC, and we both went to work. After three-and-a-half years working as IT Administrator for Vocational Solutions, a local non-profit that provides employment support to people with disabilities and other vocational barriers, I decided to realize my dream of starting my own business.
I founded Reliant Data Solutions in the fall of 2006. Through friends at church, I was fortunate enough to be referred to a local oral surgeon, Dr. Ty Hornsby, and a local retina specialist, Dr. Robert Laborde. Both were kind enough to take a chance on my brand-new business and even refer me to some of their colleagues (for which I am eternally grateful). In turn, I went to work learning the unique requirements of independent medical and dental practices, particularly the requirements of regulations such as HIPAA.
Since then, my business has grown to support small- and medium-size practices, as well as businesses and nonprofits in other industries, throughout Western North Carolina and Upstate South Carolina. I am a firm believer that the computer service business is about service first, and I have grown Reliant Data with that focus. I am intentional about hiring technicians who are reliable, trustworthy, and good communicators first and foremost, so that I know my customers are being given the very best service in the industry.
I am extremely grateful to the dozens of dental and medical practitioners, business owners and nonprofit leaders who put their faith in my company every day to keep their businesses running effectively and efficiently. If you are looking for an IT partner for your business, please reach out to me. I’d love to talk with you.
